Trinity Community Ministries (TCM) will unite with agencies dedicated to Atlanta homeless issues to raise $1 million during the Oct. 28 Courage to Care luncheon featuring authors Ron Hall and Denver Moore. The event aims to raise funds and volunteer support for Atlanta’s homeless community.

More than 2,500 Atlantans will gather at the Georgia World Congress Center to hear from Hall and Moore who tell an inspirational story of their unlikely friendship. Hall was an international art dealer when his wife encouraged him to befriend Moore, who was homeless at the time. The two share a journey that has taken them across the country raising money and awareness for the homeless. TCM board members invited Hall and Moore to Atlanta after reading their New York Times best-selling book, Same Kind of Different As Me.

“We have an ambitious fundraising goal and a passionate group of people who truly have the courage to care for our city’s homeless men, women and children,” said David P. Smith, the event organizer and TCM board member. “Our goal for the event is to create synergy and collaboration among the homeless agencies of Atlanta that could be replicated each year to have a major impact in our community.”

Many guests will attend the event for free, invited by table hosts from homeless agencies, churches, area businesses and event sponsors. Participating homeless agencies will have booths and representatives at the event to encourage event guests to find a way to volunteer in the community.

Trinity Community Ministries is hosting the luncheon along with 12 other non-profit agencies that work with the homeless in metro Atlanta including, Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children, Samaritan House, Midtown Assistance Center, Love Thy Neighbor, Jerusalem House, Crossroads Community Ministries, Georgia Law Center for the Homeless, Atlanta Union Mission, St. Joseph’s Mercy Care, Atlanta Enterprise Center, First Step Staffing and Families First. In addition to the partner agencies, a host of other groups will be involved in the event from hosting tables to participating in the volunteer fair.

As of Oct. 6, Courage to Care and Trinity Community Ministries are supported by Platinum Supporters: Bank of America, Northside United Methodist Church, Southern Company Charitable Foundation, Peachtree Road United Methodist Church, Comcast and Ryan Michael Apparel; Gold Supporters: NAI Brannen Goddard, Emily W. David,
Thanks for the book. It has changed my life. Would love to talk with you about it.

Very best,
Trey

Thank you so much for the wonderful opportunity to meet Ron and Denver yesterday. I have to admit, I felt like a star-struck teenager being in their company! Their story is so touching and it is my prayer that their inspirational testimony will continue to reach the hearts of others like it has touched mine.

Blessings, Jean

Meeting Ron and Denver was an honor and a privilege….not only had I enjoyed reading their book, but seeing their legacy begin to unfold in front of my own eyes was an unforgettable experience. The Courage To Care Committee, with David and Tom as its leaders, have planted the seeds of inspiration in the Atlanta community! Engaging our citizens and service organizations in the efforts to support the needs of the homeless population will create a positive ripple effect for years to come. It was heartwarming to see Ron and Denver speak for those whose humanity is often not acknowledged. Actions speak louder than words. Thank you for a truly awesome memory, and I pray that the Atlanta community will be successful in its efforts to increase awareness and hope!

Peace, Joy and Laughter, Anne Marie
